Request an Academic Success Workshop
Academic Success workshops offered through Student success focus on academic tools and resources to help your students succeed in your classroom and beyond. Our workshops are designed to teach students general study and college transition skills which are applicable to all courses and programs of study.
In this workshop, students will learn about the study cycle and can create their own 5-day study plan. Students will also learn how to recognize the signs of text anxiety with tips for reducing its effects. Topics this workshop covers include:
- The study cycle
- Creating a 5-day study plan
- Identifying test anxiety
- What to do before and during a test to ease anxiety

In this workshop student's will discuss how motivation and perseverance relates to finding their academic passions and success. Topics this workshop covers include:
- Grit
- Mindset
- Introduction to life design concepts

In this workshop, students will assess their own note taking skills and steps to improving on them. Students will learn different notetaking styles and be encouraged to find a method that works for them. Topics this workshop covers include:
- Digital vs. handwritten note styles
- Steps to improve notetaking
- Notetaking styles such as concept mapping, charting method and outline notes

In this workshop, students will learn how to prioritize tasks, learn where they currently spend their time, and time management tips. Topics this workshop covers include:

Introduction to

This workshop was designed for University Perspectives to introduce students to Student Success services, and can be requested by any class, group, or organization. This workshop includes:
- Tour of CORD building
- Overview of Student Success services
- Q&A with a Student Success staff member

Writing Workshops
Request a Writing Studio Workshop
Our workshops are designed to support faculty and instructors by reinforcing what is already being taught in the classroom—our goal is to encourage a campus culture of writing. We can conduct these workshops in your classroom or in the Writing Studio; if you choose the Writing Studio for your workshop, we can include a short tour of our space.
We are also offering our workshops to any groups or organizations on campus such as RSOs, sororities, and fraternities.
Assigning a specific type of paper and not seeing what you need? We will work with you to mix-and-match our workshops to fit your needs. Once you fill out the form and indicate that you would like a custom workshop, we will get in touch through email.
In this workshop, we will teach students how to use APA Style formatting and briefly discuss the purpose of citing sources. Topics covered in this workshop include:
- Title pages
- Running headers/page numbers
- In-text citations
- Reference page
- Any other specifics regarding APA Style that the instructor requests (writing concisely, paraphrasing, etc,)

We can combine any of our existing workshops to fit your needs. For example, we could
discuss how to find credible sources then show how to incorporate and cite them in
a paper; or we could discuss what academic writing is, how to find the sources that
are part of academic writing conventions, and how to set up a Reference or Works Cited
page.
When you sign-up on the request form and indicate that you would like this option,
we will email you to collaborate on what you want/need.

In this workshop, students will learn what makes academic writing academic, and how it is the same, yet differs, from the writing they do every day. Topics this workshop covers include:
- Identifying an audience
- Following conventions
- Clear & concise writing
- Using sources
- Polishing your work

Students are often confused with the concept of using sources in academic writing, many times asking: what sources are reliable and how do I find them? In this interactive workshop, students will learn about curating information, telling the difference between reliable and unreliable sources, and why any of this is important for academic writing. Topics this workshop covers include:
- identifying filter bubbles and echo chambers;
- understanding how algorithms help curate information;
- searching Mullins Library, Google Scholar, and online as well as emphasizing the differences between .com, .org, .edu, and .gov

During this in-Studio workshop, students will learn how to effectively peer review a paper. Students will use worksheets to guide their peer feedback, and we will have writing consultants available to assist students who may be new to the peer feedback process. This workshop will help students build skills that will not only help their peers but also help each student think critically and strategically about their own writing. Topics in this workshop include:
- Understanding the need and potential for peer review
- Identifying specific elements of good academic writing (i.e., thesis statements, sources, organization, etc.)
- Providing constructive feedback
