SI Leader since Fall 2023
What do you plan to do when you graduate?
My primary focus post-graduation will be attending med school for cardiology (likely
at UAMS), although I’d like to do some traveling in my upper twenties as well.
What is your favorite campus resource?
My favorite campus resource is the study rooms! You can reserve them at the union
or library to create a focused environment for you and peers to review content. They
help a lot of you need peace and quiet to study.
What is a bucket list thing students should do while here in Fayetteville?
Attend a sports game of any sort! Academics should always be a priority, but our sporting
events are a great way to relieve stress and meet new people.
What is your favorite thing about working at the SSC?
I’m excited to help people overcome personal obstacles within the curriculum in their
class; Some courses can be intimidating and challenging at first, but I’m excited
to watch people adapt and grow in regards to learning strategies and confidence for
the future.
What's a fun fact about you?
I am Japanese, although most people cannot tell until I smile.
Why do you think SI is important?
My STEM classes included an average of around 150 students within each lecture. Large
class sizes drastically impact the pacing and intimacy of your learning experience
(they may move more quickly or only broadly cover content); SI is a great opportunity
to ask questions on content misunderstandings, study strategies, and even regain a
more face-to-face style learning environment for those that prefer it.
