CLASS+ offers four signature programs to deliver academic support to all U of A students.  This support ranges from Connection Desk Ambassadors answering quick questions and connecting students with the appropriate resource to 1:1 tutoring in the Learning Commons or Writing Studio to small group, weekly sessions with a Supplemental Instruction (SI) leader focusing on a specific course. Academic support targets many state core and gateway courses focusing primarily on level 10000/20000 level courses.  Services are offered in multiple modalities to improve access, including reservable appointments available both online and in-person, drop-in hours, and group sessions such as SI, Study Hall and Study Club.

Utilizing a students-helping-students model, CLASS+ hires student employees who are excelling academically and connects them to students seeking academic support.  All student employees complete required training and participate in on-going professional development. Tutors and Writing Studio consultants can earn level one and two tutor certification through training certified by the College Reading and Learning Association. All programs include mentoring components, leadership opportunities, and structured feedback for student employees. Providing a high impact, meaningful employment experience that helps students develop career-ready skills and professionalism is a top priority for the CLASS+ team.
